| Below are frequently asked questions to do with our services. Please refer to them if you have any queries and if your question hasn't been answered below, please contact us.
How much notice do you need to book a car?
Most people like to make sure that they have their preferred car for that special date, so booking well in advance is advisable. However, it is always worth checking with us just in case the car and dates you want are available, even if it’s at the last minute.
The important thing to allow time for is finding your driving licence and getting the simple paperwork back to us. This means that if there are any unforeseen problems - for example lots of points on your licence - and we need time to check things out with our insurance company, we have the time to do so.
I would like to book a car for the monthly MG “run”
Once a month you can join in with the local MG club on our regular Sunday “run”, around the glorious Devon countryside. We meet up at a well known local venue and then receive our map routes for the next couple of hours driving. The end of the “run” is usually at a local country pub with a lunch and refreshments. You are even told how to get back to base again! Please check with us for the date for the monthly “runs” and to check the availability of our cars.
How long are Vouchers valid for?
Vouchers are valid for one year from the date that they are sent out to you. They can be for any amount and we usually suggest that they cover at least one day’s car hire (from £120 per day or £60 for the MGF). You do not need to specify a date or car when booking vouchers, but if you think that they will be used for a specific date, its best to book it in advance. Otherwise they can be used towards the cost of any of our cars for an agreed date – subject to availability. We can send the voucher direct to you or a named person. Some people like us to include a book about classic cars, we usually send a small model car with the voucher, please ask and we can advise you on this including additional costs.
How does the Safety deposit / excess work?
As standard for classic car hire, a deposit of £500 will be required before you take the car out. The deposit must be paid using a cheque, which will be cancelled once the car has been returned ok and we are sure that you have not committed any road offences. We normally allow three weeks before we shred the cheque. In the rare instance that there is damage to the car or you have committed a traffic offence resulting in fines, the £500 will cover or be put towards Vehicle repair or other related costs. This £500 deposit will also be used to cover the insurance excess of £500 - in the event that the excess needs to be used. For more information please see our Terms and Conditions.
